MAT - Mission Statement

Mission Statement

MAT is on a mission to provide logistic and infrastructure, capacity building assistance to people in Mirebalais, Haiti. The organization will achieve its mission through empowerment, education and healthcare, technology, workforce development, and other benevolent activities that are primarily educational.

Vision Statement

MAT aspires to be an example of a transparent organization that brings the collective ability of people of Mirebalais to seek a better social and economic future for themselves. The organization’s focus is to promote open dialogue, larger youth participation in physical activities, and peace education. Furthermore, the organization will connect its programs and activities with the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education, Zero Hunger, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Sustainable Communities.

Value Statement

MAT values respect, integrity, commitment, empowerment, and accountability. Additionally, the organization encourages a mechanism of shared-knowledge and resources as a sustainable way to grow and thrive together.

Agendas

MIREBALAIS AVANT TOUT, Inc. (MAT) is a broad‐based, non‐profit organization with mission and agenda to:

Be an example of a transparent and responsible organization.
Promote the commune of Mirebalais, Haiti, in all its aspects.
Help search for tools to foster self-entrepreneurship and small business success, and at the same time create income-generating activities to combat unemployment.
Disseminate technical and economic knowledge and skills to the youths, to women, an to all those with an entrepreneurship mentality.
Have a dynamic socio-political reading of Mirebalais, Haiti, and analyze how it can affect the execution of various projects in the region by:
- Discuss the problem of water shortage
- Help to address the issue of insecurity in Mirebalais through collaborative community innitiatives and provide funding for increased law enforcement presence.
- Implement social programs that focus on education, economic development, and youth empowerment to address underlying causes and provide alternatives to crime. YOUTH SPORT FOCUS.

Goals

At inception, the organization’s goals were to:

Run activities and programs in Mirebalais to restore public confidence in civic dialogues and social enterprises.
Establish a complete clarity and transparency in organizational management.
Remind people that the system of government in Haiti reflects how people live and what they value. Therefore, cynicism shall be avoided.
Advise on how to correct fundamental mistakes of the recent past and focus on a mission that promotes social and educational growth.
Engage every citizen of the town with a good intention in honest dialogue.
Promote peace education in schools and community organizations throughout the town, and
Empower young people to discuss and pursue innovative social change initiatives in other to solve the most socio-economic challenges facing Mirebalais.

An annual marathon held around mid August that offers a way for the town to gather around a positive activity.

MAT AGRO

MAT funded a nursery and parcel of land as a learning laboratory for local farmers to learn better practices for caring for land, planting, caring for, and harvesting produce.
